In a recent email sent to those who signed on as GPT builders, it's confirmed that the GPT store will be officially released next week. OpenAI also stated to make sure creations were in line with guidelines and ensure bots are public for people to view.
The official release date comes after the store was delayed multiple times. It was first announced in November during their DevDay Conference. As of right now, the release is set for ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise subscribers.
The GPT Store allows users to sell and share customized AI agents based on OpenAI's large language models, GPT 3 and GPT 4. The custom bots have a wide range of capabilities for users to build out. Discoverable on the explore tab, users are able to monetize their creations. Compensation comes based on the amount of traffic their bot brings and how much it is used.
Following the announcement that the New York Times is suing OpenAI for copyright infringement, OpenAI is moving forward with publishers to license news content for AI training. OpenAI and Apple have been in talks to offer publishers up to $5 million to train large language models.
