In a blog post by Sabine Borsay at Google, they've announced a new update to Safety Check, stating the feature will run in the background and output real-time alerts to users about compromised passwords.
Google showcased Safety Check in December 2020 and how it compared credentials against data leaks while also checking password strength and how easy it would be for hackers to brute-force.
The new update aims to protect users at a higher scale and used to consist of manual activation, however, now aims to be automatic.
The Safety Check Function will now operate discreetly in the background and scan passwords for real-time compromises. New updates will not only also notify users of dangerous extensions, but ensure they are using the latest version of Chrome.
Certain permissions will be revoked from websites that users haven't accessed in a long time.
Chrome is also introducing saving tab groups which allows users to resume their search elsewhere.
Google is always aiming to better the security of their users, with this update sending real-time alerts, checking data, and much more.
