When it comes to the job market in 2024, many people have become concerned with the rise of AI and how it will affect their future. According to statistics from LinkedIn, between January 2022 and December 2023, remote job postings dropped by 9%.
The reason for remote jobs being less in demand comes from the fact that industries offering remote jobs such as finance and technology, are in layoff season. Layoff season is when a company restructures based on upcoming goals for the year.
Competition for remote jobs has been rising but mainly for one reason, telecommuting. This gives anyone with the position the power to log in from anywhere, even if you're not in the same state as your job is located.
Overall it's not only expected that remote jobs will be more competitive, but the market as a whole. It's due to the fact that there are just fewer jobs available, and an even lower amount of positions for remote and hybrid.
